Many have dreamed of creating books for children, and some have braved that path as writers or illustrators. Whether you are a seasoned children’s book author or want to see what the road looks like, we will explore the avenues and obstacles to navigate. This session will cover design, manufacturing and distribution options and realistic marketing plans for launching a children’s picture book or middle-grade chapter book. Most importantly, we will discuss the steps that can help you ensure a successful project. The bar is high for children’s books as it is one of the largest genres in publishing, whether traditional or independent. Understanding strategies and techniques for ensuring a quality product is key to everything that follows, from reviews, to connecting with your target audience. Bring your notepads and crayons as this will be a fun meeting as we dive into the colorful world of children’s book publishing.
Peter’s Bio –
Peter Trimarco is the co-founder of Notable Kids Publishing, which is primarily focused on picture books and middle-
grade titles with traditional distribution through Stable Book Group / Hachette Book Group. In addition to curating and publishing books for authors and illustrators, Peter has also illustrated a number of critically-acclaimed picture books, which have been honored by the Foreword Indies, CIPA Book Awards, and IBPA Book Awards. Prior to establishing Notable Kids, Peter was the publisher of an international film magazine which served the Association of Film Commissioners International, and international film festivals and markets, as well as the voting members of the Academy®. Over the years, he has been involved in various aspects of content creation and marketing from music, to film, and currently, content for youngsters. He is a past president of CIPA, the CIPA Education & Literacy Foundation, and served on the Board of the IBPA.
