Do you judge a book by it’s cover? Your readers do. Your book cover is the first impression of your book a potential reader receives. It can communicate your book’s genre, subgenre, tone, and more. Or it can communicate a muddled, confusing mismatch of information. If your cover doesn’t grab your potential reader’s attention, they won’t read your blurb or first few pages. They won’t give your book a chance. That’s why a book’s cover is its number one marketing tool. In this presentation, you’ll learn:

- how to choose fonts, imagery, and colors to effectively communicate your story and genre

Ellie Bockert Augsburger has spent the past decade crafting book covers with passion and precision at Creative Digital Studios. Armed with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in digital art and a background in CGI, she’s been fortunate to channel her creative
passion into crafting captivating book covers, merging her love for art with her love of books and reading. Over the years, she has had the honor of collaborating with authors and publishers to visually interpret their stories. It’s a journey that’s allowed her to explore diverse genres and themes, infusing each cover with a unique blend of creativity and storytelling. With every design, Elie aims to encapsulate the heart and soul of the books she works on, forging a visual connection between readers and the stories within. While her focus has always been on the artistry rather than the spotlight, she finds immense fulfillment in knowing that her designs play a role in connecting readers with the worlds hidden within those pages. It’s a testament to the power of visual storytelling, and Ellie is grateful for every opportunity to bring stories to life through design.
