My debut historical fiction novel is entitled The Wisdom of the Flock: Franklin and Mesmer in Paris. It is a tale of science versus mysticism in late 18th Century France. Benjamin Franklin led a commission to investigate the practice of mesmerism. But more than that, it is a tale of human relationships, love, and faith – all set against the backdrop of the American Revolutionary War, the Age of Enlightenment in Europe, and the upcoming French Revolution. It has some great characters – Franklin and Mesmer, of course, but also Marie Antoinette, John Paul Jones, Wolfgang Mozart, and even Casanova makes a cameo appearance. It has spies, music, intrigue and a just bit of romance to spice it up.
