The 25th Annual “Silver Anniversary” CIPA EVVY™ Awards Banquet was a huge success!
Our master of ceremonies and the keynote speaker was Mark Hardcastle, author of The Symphony of Your Life: Restoring Harmony When Your World Is Out of Tune, a previous 1st Place CIPA EVVY™ Award-winning book. Mark’s inspiring speech about doing the hard things truly exemplified that success only comes to those who persevere.
CIPA’s President, Robert Schram, presented the 2019 Annual President’s Award to Dr. Patricia Ross, Coordinator of the CIPA EVVYs™. Doris Baker, Program Chair and Patricia worked endless hours processing the record number of entries CIPA received this year, lining up judges, sending out books to be judged, coordinating the banquet and all the details along with instituting a new system for cataloging entries and scores.
The banquet was held at the Denver Field House Event Venue which was crowded with excited and gracious authors and publishers anticipating their awards! The atmosphere was filled with introductions, book conversations, referrals and new friendships in the making.
Author Lois Hjemstead, made her way to the stage to accept her 1st place award for her memoir, Abidance: A Memoir of Love and Inevitability. She took a few minutes to thank CIPA and the people who supported her but her main acknowledgment was for her husband of 71 years. She received a standing ovation for her book and her long-lived marriage to Les.
In her gracious blog post, I’m Stunned – and Thrilled she related her excitement of receiving her award and thanked CIPA for the opportunity.
