CIPA Star Program Requirements Important Information for Members
Must be a CIPA member in good standing!
The CIPA STAR application form
was created by the CIPA STAR Committee. The CS Committee consists of 3 CIPA
Board members to include the current President, CIPA STAR Program
Director and CIPA Book Awards Chairperson, and the title Acquisitions
Manager of Books West Distribution. The CS Committee reviews applications twice a year. Receipt of a CIPA Evvy Award is the first step toward a member's book being considered by the CIPA STAR committee. Those CIPA members with books with copyrights that preclude them from entering/submitting their title for a CIPA Book Award may submit their title to the CIPA Book Review Committee for evaluation and possible selection for consideration by the CIPA STAR Committee.
Once selected, the member will be awarded a specially designed CIPA
STAR name badge and the CIPA STAR logo will appear next to the members
name in the CIPA directory and catalog. The CIPA STAR badge should be
worn at monthly meetings and events. The CIPA STAR member's name will be
included on the "A" List distributed to bookstore managers in Colorado
for speaking engagements, publishing workshops and mini-seminars at stores and
we hope to be used to refer CIPA STARS to organizations and schools for same.
CIPA, and the CIPA STAR member are responsible for promoting our CIPA STARS' events to the public and fellow CIPA members in order to offer as much support as possible.
CIPA will offer various educational and mentoring programs to enhance a member's chances of being selected as a CIPA STAR and to ensure qualified speakers and books are made available to
bookstores.
CIPA STARS are free to approach
any and all bookstores nationwide.
CIPA members who do not want to be considered as speakers may also apply to have their books considered for the CIPA STAR program.
CIPA STARS can become "SUPA" STARS if they exhibit the necessary commitment, desire, talent, professionalism and perseverance required to become successful.
