Cherry Creek Schools Selected to Launch Student Writing Contest for CIPA Education and Literacy Foundation

The Young Author's League of the Colorado Independent Publisher's Association Education and Literacy Foundation has teamed with the Cherry Creek School District to launch the 2009 Student Short-Story Writing Contest for 4th & 5th Grade students. Winning stories will appear in a book titled, Making the World a Better Place, A Child's Perspective. It will be published by the non-profit Education and Literacy Foundation (ELF), and will be released in the fall.

The Colorado Independent Publishers Association presented its fifteenth annual EVVY Awards March 28th, 2009 at Denver’s Red Lion Hotel. The elegant gala, attended by one-hundred-sixty-five guests, was introduced by CIPA’s president, author Mara Purl, and MC’d by Denver talk-show host Dom Testa. Chair of the event was Dr. Judith Briles, best-selling author, national speaker and frequent contributor to the Denver Business Journal.

Local High School and College Students Receive CIPA President's Scholarship

In the spirit of mentorship and community service, CIPA and its non-profit Education and Literary Foundation offers scholarships to local students... This year's scholarship winners for excellence in creative writing and journalism were Liz Matthews, a freshman at Cheyenne Mountain High school, and Jessica Zook, a sophomore at Conifer High School.
Rotary's Mountains of Books program tops $30K mark

The Rotary Club of Conifer's Mountains of Books "Peaking" an Interest in Reading literacy campaign surpassed the $30,000 dollar mark last week when the club's Literacy Committee made yet another mountain area school and library reference book donation to Conifer High School/Jeffco Public Library on April 9th.

CIPA ELF & Conifer Rotary's gift to Summit County

Not rain nor sleet nor snow keeps the CIPA ELF and the Conifer Rotary Club from making gifts of books to Colorado libraries and schools and such was the case this time on December 18 in Summit County. Braving the snowy, high country roads from Conifer to Breckenridge, representatives from the Rotary Club of Conifer, Rotary District 5450 and the Colorado Independent Publishers Association's 501 c 3 Education and Literacy Foundation (CIPA ELF) delivered a holiday gift of $3000 worth of brand new reference books to the Summit County Library in Frisco.
