September
14th = Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers
Join the
Rocky Mountain Chapter of Mystery Writers of America for dinner with
David B. Weiding at the Denver Press Club. David started out as an
enlisted man, classification E-1, scrubbing decks and floated up to a
mid-level Intel officer briefing the HPSCI. His range of stories
included: *at sea in WestPac on a destroyer as the EW/Intel/Cryppie guy
dodging TU-95s and Soviet Intel collectors and typhoons. *Battling
within the Intel Community around the beltway (probably boring),
including being in the IC as we prepped for Iraq and my own tales of
chasing WMD. *chasing Al Qaeda and Taliban in Afghanistan (probably the
most pertinent), being in country as an Officer In Charge of a special
intelligence detachment and receiving my Bronze star. He promises to be
very interesting and entertaining!
Dinner will be
served at 7:00 p.m., with the program starting at 8:00 p.m. NOTE:
because of changes at the Denver Press Club, dinner will now be served
by Food For Thought, a Denver caterer. The meal on the 14th will
include: a spinach salad, a chicken Breast wrapped in bacon in cream
sauce served with rice and mixed vegetables, rolls and butter, carrot
cake for dessert, and water and/or iced tea as a beverage. Coffee, soft
drinks and other assorted beverages are available to order from the
Denver Press Club cash bar. Cost of the meal is $15 per person, and
reservations for dinner are a must! Please RSVP to chris (at) christinegoff.com,
and be prepared to pay for your meal with cash or by check at the
meeting. No Shows will be expected to pay. Deadline for reservations
and/or cancellations is Tuesday, September 12th.
