1998 WINNERS: On Saturday, June 20, 1998, over 50 people watched as Mushrooms of Colorado by Westcliffe Publishers was named Best Designed Book by a Colorado Independent Publisher. That award, along with winners in eight categories, were announced at the Colorado Independent Publishers Association (CIPA) annual awards banquet. The event, held at the Radisson Greystoke Inn in Thornton, included a workshop on book publicity. In the morning Tami DePalma and Kim Dushinski of Marketability, a Golden (CO) book promotion firm, gave attendees information on how to promote their books, from marketing plans through press kits to book signings. After a question-and-answer session, lunch was served, and the year's best books from Colorado publishers were honored.
